Imagine opening TikTok and finding an AR effect that you can play with a friend. You and your partner have to synchronize your hand poses according to the images displayed on the screen. There are 10 different poses to complete, and the faster you do it, the better. Welcome to Bakiak Multiplayer!
The Idea Behind the Project
The inspiration for “Bakiak Multiplayer” came from traditional Indonesian games that require teamwork and coordination. I wanted to create an AR experience that brings this concept to life, allowing friends to play together in a fun and engaging way on TikTok.
Building with Effect House
Effect House is TikTok’s platform for creating AR effects, and it’s packed with tools to help bring creative ideas to life. For “Bakiak Multiplayer,” Effect House provided the perfect environment to develop the interactive elements and ensure smooth multiplayer interactions.

How It Works

- Conceptualization and Design: I started by designing the game mechanics and the 10 hand poses. The key was to make the poses clear and easy to follow.
- Development in Effect House: Using Effect House, I implemented the AR components, focusing on the interaction between the two players and the hand pose detection. The platform’s advanced tracking capabilities allowed me to ensure the poses are accurately recognized.
- Game Mechanics: I integrated a system that displays the poses one by one, tracking the time it takes for both players to match each pose correctly.
User Experience
When you activate the “Bakiak Multiplayer” effect on TikTok, the AR experience begins by prompting you to find a friend to play with. Once both players are ready, the game starts displaying hand poses that you need to mimic. You have to work together to match the poses as quickly as possible. There are 10 poses in total, and the goal is to complete them all in the shortest time.
