Hey everyone! I’m really excited to share another one of my cool and interactive projects with you. If you’re a fan of retro games and enjoy spending time on Instagram, then you’re going to love this one. Let’s dive into “Tetris Lego,” an Augmented Reality (AR) experience I developed using Meta Spark.
Introducing “Tetris Lego”
Imagine opening Instagram and finding an AR effect that lets you play a game inspired by the classic Tetris, but with a fun twist – the blocks are made of Lego pieces! Instead of using a joystick or buttons, you control the game with your head movements and eye blinks. Welcome to Tetris Lego!
The Idea Behind the Project
The idea for “Tetris Lego” came from my love for retro games and the versatility of Lego. Tetris is a timeless classic that everyone knows and loves, and Lego adds a playful and creative twist. I wanted to create an AR experience that combines these two elements, making it interactive and fun on Instagram.
Building with Meta Spark
Meta Spark is Instagram’s platform for creating AR effects, and it’s packed with tools to help bring creative ideas to life. For “Tetris Lego,” Meta Spark provided the perfect environment to develop the interactive elements and ensure smooth and responsive gameplay.
How It Works
Here’s a peek into the development process:
- Conceptualization and Design: The first step was reimagining Tetris with Lego blocks. I designed the game mechanics to be similar to the original Tetris but with a Lego theme.
- Development in Meta Spark: Using Meta Spark, I implemented the AR components, focusing on head tracking and eye blink detection. The advanced tracking capabilities of Meta Spark allowed me to map head movements to the block’s position and eye blinks to the block’s rotation.
- Gameplay Mechanics: I programmed the game so that when the user tilts their head left or right, the block moves accordingly. Blinking one eye rotates the block, adding a unique and fun way to control the game.
User Experience
When you activate the “Tetris Lego” effect on Instagram, the AR experience begins by detecting your face. The Lego blocks appear, and you control them by moving your head and blinking your eyes. Tilting your head to the left or right moves the block in that direction, and blinking changes the block’s rotation. The goal is to fit the blocks together as they fall, just like in the classic Tetris game.
Why It’s Fun
What makes “Tetris Lego” so enjoyable is its blend of nostalgia and innovation. It’s a fun throwback to a classic game, but with a modern twist that uses your head movements and eye blinks as controls. It’s engaging, entertaining, and perfect for creating fun content on Instagram.
Looking Ahead
Working on “Tetris Lego” has been a fantastic experience. It’s projects like these that inspire me to continue exploring the potential of AR. I’m excited to keep creating more interactive and entertaining AR experiences. Up next, I’m diving into Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR), so stay tuned for more exciting projects!
